22r oil leak
i have a 22r in my 83 pickup leaking oil pretty bad. the engine is covered in it so i cannot figure out where it is coming from. ive heard there is stuff i can use to clean it all off so i can find where it is coming from but im not sure what it is called. i am not very familiar with engines but im trying to learn so any help is appreciated. oh and it looks like the leak is started somewhere in the top of the motor but i am not sure. thanks

Try an autoparts store and ask for some degreaser. A good kitchen degreaser (liquid dish soap) like Ajax Orange has worked for me on small stuff. But if your engine is total covered you may want to take it down to a quarter car wash, the ones in my area usually have an engine cleaner/degreaser setting. Just becareful around your electronics/intake, might want to even keep it running while you use the stuff.
If leaking from the top might be as something simple as a loose valve cover or a breather tube that has come loose.

I say just get some brake clean or "Brakleen" is the brand I use, spray the motor down.. all the grease and oil will drip off, have some shop towels or rags to wipe it down and repeat until its some what clean. Since the oil is everywhere id say Front crankseal, its probably dripping onto the harmonic balancer and flinging it all over the motor, Might also be a valve cover seal which is a pretty easy fix aswell.

I have even used oven cleaner ... it's pretty caustic , and can dammage rubber , but it works good ..
just typical "engine shampoo" is what you use .. and then check where the oil is comming from .
