Smile 22R bearings

Ive heard that the main and rod crank bearings should only be bought from the dealer. Whats the difference and whats wrong with the cheaper ones from the local parts barn?

Yea I dont see how they could be all that different. I heard that they could cause your engine to knock. I think thats more of not putting it all back together right and blamming it on cheap parts.

I used the parts from engnbldr and they work fine. My motor does not knock and I haven't babied it all that much. It purrs. I agree with the thing about it all being about how you put it together.

too many myths about after market parts. some people say just buy from the dealer, some say that after market is fine. i have never had a problem with after market stuff or felpro head gaskets that are supposably junk. just make sure your crank is ok and there are not grooves if so have it turned it or if you can polish it.. make sure you order the right size also!!!!

bought all the bearings for the crank today and new piston rings, came out to less than $100. getting a valve job at the machine shop this week and I am done. I can finaly start putting it back together. what started as a leaky oil pan/front seal/rear seal leak has turned into an entire rebuild; on a college students budget and schedule I might add.

yea thats pretty much what I am doing, I got this truck to be the support vehicle for my motorcycle a month ago. We not only are rebuilding the motor, we are doing bedliner in the cab, in the bed, painting the truck flat black and rebuilding the entire front and and new rear brakes. we are also now working on a design to weld in an electric winch inside the tool box to haul my bike into the bed if I am alone. This project is more fun than my old mud bog bronco.
