Silverwood Offroad Pics *dialup warning*

Fun day of wheeling in socal!
my 4R pics by my friend Joe Somerville

setting up for one of the toughest challenges of the day- a steep climb with a deep gorge in the middle made tough by the slipper conditions
setting up for it-going up..

moving over to the good line up

starting to move over to the ledge...

hugging the ledge, climbing...

putting the slider right up on it and hugging it while climbing up

Hugging the other side to straddle the gorge!

Joe doing the same climb-huggin the ledge

and hugging the other side

this 4x4 lifted van got jammed in the same spot and blew 2 beads

yeah that van made it thru alot of stuff! First steep climb it ran right up- it was scary tho b/c it's like a giant, tall house on 4 wheels! Everyone clapped when he made it- it was impressive. sas'd, lifted..and I'm pretty sure he was fully locked

Unfortunately, that challenge pictured was too much and he cut the day short for everyone behind.

Silverwood Lake is near the 15 & 138- kind of in between Hesperia and Big Bear. It was my first time there- the rain made it slick and definitely tougher than Rowher wet. They said when dry, it would be alot easier.

Here is John- in a Taco DC (Hoe coilovers, uniball uca's, 265-75 (or 285, cant remember) mt's, arb, custom rear bumper, factory diff. lock, 3" lift. He almost made this optional climb- just needed a front locker toget some traction- but a good attempt.

Nice Taco- what is "DC"? a fabricator?

Nice shots, James. Looks like a lot of off-camber stuff, though. I am NOT a fan of that stuff!

Cool pics!!! Looks like great fun. Bet you were worried about getting some body damage or more worried about seat damage where you were sitting

You should get video next time.

Lance, it is just an overflow of grey matter from the inside of the head

lol, yeah I've had a little salt n pepper since I was 19.
The silver Taco was one of the few to take that line. You can't tell from pics but it is steep, slippery and deep ruts. That hole in front of him is deep... that hill was very difficult to walk down- you had to use your hands.

Anyway, he made it alot of the way (he has a rear locker) so that was impressive. He couldn't get the rear past the hole tho- he really needed a front locker too at that point so he got strapped the rest of the way. No way I could make that with Trac alone.

No worry about body damage, I had a couple ace spotters making me look good in front of the Jeep boys. Sliders came in damn handy tho didnt they!

ALRIGHT!! THIS IS THE PLACE!! I think.

This is the place I have asked about on a couple of different occasions. It's the exit before or the same one as the one that you take to go to mt high off of 15N.

Is it a park/OHV area? Or just a local type of trail that you can run.

It's the same exit (Hwy 138), except you turn right (north east?) instead of left. I used to live up near there and have been boating there, but never knew there we're any trails there. Looks like i'll have to hit this next time I go up to my mom's. Also, for SD people; this is like 100 miles away or so, which seems to be the same or less than the drive to Superstition (hopefully this'll give some scale).
