Broken sway bar link

I wanted to post this as a heads up.

I started hearing a "clunk" on the front end during compressions.
Took a quick look and found my link that attaches to the sway bar broken on the right side of the vehicle.
Seems to me the bushings at the sway bar were worn and allowed the sway bar to rub on the link rod and wore thin enough to break.
Could have been a bit messy had the link pivoted over to the wrong area.

So, you may want to look at your sway bar bushings.
I could see that the bushings were not exactly tight on the sway bar, but did not think it was too bad.

1996 4Runner 195K miles

Time to order 2 new oem links and maybe a urenthane bushing kit.

yeah this is a pretty common problem. rather than buying oem replacement again, you might want to look into buying beefed up quick-disconnect links that will hold up better due to being thick and also you disconnect them during wheeling so yeah.

Ditto. Not to mention, Brian (WabFab) will be the most attentive internet sales company you will ever deal wth.

Thanks Guys!
This site rocks.
Those WabFab's look really good. Sweet

Truck does handle a bit funny w/o the sway bar attached. Go figure.
