alex_mcnair's 1987 pickup build
#81
A lot of updates since ive last been on here.
In May 2012, I bought this 1987 Toyota from a friend. Broken timing chain and she was mine for $500.
Some goodies in the oil pan.
The guy I bought it from tried showing me it wouldn't crank...I didn't think it would, but when I popped the hood no spark plug wires were so connected so he could have tried all day...
But cleaned this up and turned around and sold it after putting a total of $900 in it, parts, tires, other stuff.
A good ole before and after
So selling it prompted me to buy this!
While waiting for all the IFS Eliminator stuff to come in, I installed some LED interior lights using a dremel tool, they come on when my main center one comes on.
Last time wheeling the IFS
Then off to the shop!
With deployments in the Navy and other stuff, it was just easier to drop it off and let some pros handle it. Reunited at last!
And my girlfriend bought me a new sticker for Christmas
Also bought this little turd around Thanksgiving..
Then traded it in for this AWD beauty!

So I realized I have not updated in 3 years! The truck has had a few upgrades and wheeling opportunities since then! First it got a tire upgrade with some 33" x 10.50 KM2s. I had to cut a bit of the bed out to accommodate the Chevy 63's moving the tires out of the center of the wheelwell.
Various shots while 4 wheeling on Army training roads at Ft. Gordon, Georgia.
The first Georgia snow in years! This was February 2014.
Also ran in to the 87 blue Toyota that I bought and sold and used to fund my SAS.
My neighbor was in a jeep club in Augusta, so got to go hang around a few Jeeps one weekend
Found a fabrication shop to make me a more durable and custom bumper, integrated shackles, Hi-Lift Jack points, and a flush 2" receiver.
When moving back to Alabama, I had some trouble on the interstate when a wheel bearing blew out. It caused my driver hub to roll over to LOCK and fry everything. A few trail gear parts later and it was ready to go.
How it was when I got it in the shop, you can see the angle the driver tire is sitting at.
Also sold my regular size toolbox for this ATV box from The Home Depot. And bought a light bar which I decided to mount behind the cab. I do not use the bed for things often so it is still visible most of the time.
While wiring up the reverse light to the stock lights, I realized my reverse lights were out. Who knows how long they have been out. The switch on the side of the transmission was sheared off I assume from a trail or something, so a new part was needed. I routed the wire high and out of the way this time. Also found a dangling wire for the 4WheelDrive switch. Which I realized has never working since owning it! So its neat to finally have that function as it should
And picked up a new shift boot from another yotatech member bootscootboogie!
