Most common problems on 3rd Gen 4runner?
I've had a few 2nd Gen 4Runners 3.0 and have dealt with the head gaskets, rear window relay, heater core/heater only blowing on high and that sort of thing. I'm looking at a 97 4x4 4cyl 4Runner with high miles now. What common problems should I look for now and in the future? I've read about the strawberry milkshake, does that happen with 4 bangers as well? Thanks

Can't go wrong with the 3rzfe. GREAT motor. Better than the 22re, IMO.
If its an automatic, yes, it can potentially get the "milkshake".
People seem to have problems with the ABS acting up lately.
But I mean, anything can go wrong on a vehicle with high miles and 13 years old.

I am hoping for better MPG. The guy selling the truck did say it needed brake lines, but didn't mention any problem with the ABS. He also said he would deliver it last Friday and didn't. Oh well, I guess I'll keep searching. Thanks.
