Painting steel wheels - what color?
Hi! I have a 97 4x4 with the 42601-35740, 16" steel wheels that were also delivered on some 3rd gen 4runners. It's time to blast and paint them, and I want to do it one wheel at a time. The spare looks gross with some surface rust spots.
I'm colorblind and can't figure out the factory color. To me it simply looks like a kind of "dark silver". Most of the paint mixing guides are all about body and bumper colors but nothing mentions the wheel.
Does anyone know a name or number of the original paint on this wheel? I would love to have a rattle can that has a similar enough color to not stand out.

Welcome to YT. You should do an intro in that section.
Pic's would help, but that may be for our own gratification.
I was so gonna make a smart remark on this post till the color blind part, see everyday I'm a little more PC.

Here are three photos.
1: the t in 2006 when I got it.
2: One of the current running wheels. (I have the center caps in the backseat for now)
3: The worst wheel I have, the spare.
I found a photo of a 4runner with these wheels on another forum: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-ge...ml#post1841168
I'm not sure if the graphite will go well with the light and dark green of the body color. I think the dupli-color silver might be too bright, but looking at the old photo shows a brighter finish than what I have now; white and bronze are out of the question.
The tundra steelies would probably look great on the truck in black or graphite. Not so sure about this wheel pattern though.

TDonkey I once saw a green t100 just like ours that had the stock steelies painted black. It also had about a one foot bedliner stripe running the length of the truck, and it looked great. I'm about to paint mine black, have you painted yours yet?
