time for a new battery, which one to get?
#22
if i had the money, i would have gotten the Diehard Platinum.. like i said i have one in the big runner (sears gave me one of those after bringing back several red tops dead under warranty) and i LOVE it... its a GREAT battery.

It seems i`m in the same situation as those above, my two year old optima battery is toast, it will no longer hold a charge and when i try and charge it on a charger it won`t take a charge that way either. I like optima battery`s, but they just don`t last, so i won`t be buying another one. I will either go to wall mart or napa and get a battery there.

No, my 4Runner is all stock electrical wise, but the battery just went bad. Any battery should last more than two years, even a cheap one, but i don`t consider optima battery`s a cheap battery, but i won`t be buying another one.

whats the purpose of putting a heavy duty farm tractor battey in our pickups or dual batteries if your just starting it? you guys must be runnning audio systems and alot of equipment?? ive had my iterstate megatron cranking battery for 4 years no problems. my buddy has been a toyota mechanic for 20+ years and thats all he recommends is interstate.

old thread, but i had to chime in
most older batt chargers wont charge a dead optima, but some of the newer ones can.
or you can charge through another batt to get it started.
i've had great luck with optima yellows
if you are on a budget, the best batt. is costco kirkland,
they are interstate (johnson controls) but they are cheaper and have better warranty
they also have really great CCA and reserve capacity numbers

I'm pretty sure that there are only 3, maybe 4, companies that actually make the batteries.
With that said, I always just get one in the $90-$120 price range, usually a centennial or an interstate. never had problems with any of them.
Got an Exide in my truck right now. Put it in last week, got it at cost for about $55. Maybe it won't suck either.
I do prefer the centennials since they are sealed and don't leak and make a mess.
