Radio, Clock and Cigarette lighter not working

I had some electrical problems that I've dealt with, and I'm hunting down the last of the damage. All is well, but the radio, cigarette lighter, and dash clock aren't working - the fuses in the fuse panel in the driver's side kick panel are all good, tested with voltmeter. They are all getting 12v. Is there another fuse I should be looking for?

Check for power @ the fuses. If none, check continuity on the above arrow'ed wire. It's responsible to send power from the ignition switch down to the fuse box.

Yep, all the fuses are getting 12v. Is there another fuse behind the dash? I keep hearing about a fusible link behind the cigarette lighter that controls the radio and clock.

Well, the cigarette lighter and clock are working. The radio still is not.

The lights on the radio come on when the headlights are turned on, but the display does not light up.

Okay, so if the radio fuse in the fuse panel in the kick panel is good, is there a fuse in the back of the radio itself like there are in aftermarket radios?

ok everythings good but the radio right?
you got ground cause it lights up add you need 12+ and ground plus the dimmer 12+ to work the lights in a radio

key and point a relay is used for the lighting of the radio

12+ passes through when the power of the lights on 12+ comes in and snaps to the ground causeing the 12+ from the radio (battery) to pass though the relay to turn on the lights on the radio so i think everythings ok its just that the radio it self is bad did you try turning it on?

take out the radio and test for 12+ ground and lights behind the radio and go from there if you dont have 12+ back there then it between the fuse and the radio thats causeing this hope it helps cause it confused the heck out of me but i under stand these things lol

It was indeed the radio... I put one from a 3rd gen in and it fires right up. Now I can finally reassemble my dash...

Thanks guys!

Smile Ms. McGiver

Crawdad, I not sure about a 90 but my dash lights, radio and cigarette lighter were not working. I search this site and under electrical it was the 80 Amp Alternator fuse under the hood in my 1988 Toyota Truck. You cannot just pull it out it is bolted in. There was also other fuses there.
This site saved me over $385.00 the fuse was $2.89.

Well, one idea is to post in the correct section. Most of us have:
"2nd/3rd gen pickups, and 1st/2nd gen 4Runners with IFS, 85-95"

Just read a post about changing out the power wire that runs from your battery to the fuse box under good. Check there...maybe PO hacked it, you can replace it with 4g or 6-8g works as well. I'll try and post the thread for you to see.
