Front Tow Hooks?

I am looking at the thread that shows the love on first gen 4rnr's. And then i started looking at the ones with origional front ends, with no extra work on them.
If you look close, you see on the passenger side, the front frame D-ring and snap wire, for pulling stuff, but not on the driver's side. What's the deal?
Has all the ones on the driver's side just been knocked off somehow? Have we pulled them all off? Or do they not come with the vehicle, and we just
never noticed?

yes, there just one hook on the passenger side, look in the manual, it shows it there

if you think about it, why would you need more than one?

for instance, 2nd pic down in this thread, dirty AQ$ss truck, look under the time stamp, under the 04, clearly the d-ring is there, but you do not see these on the driver's side, ever. Or not that i have seen yet...

I would think you would want two, for nice , even pulling with a strap, or to put a pull bar through both, and pull from a fixed bar.

there are "d-ring holes" on both sides. The passenger side just have another hook on it.

Those arent really dring holes on the drivers side, its wayyyy to thin..Its more like a tie down for tow truck drivers...Thats why us yota owners take em off

Be glad your 4wd's came with "1" hook. My 2wd came with two thin metal loop holes. Pretty point-less actually. lol

Yep, they came stock with 2 THIN metal loops and 1 hook. Like said before, the hook is for recovery and the loops are tiedowns.

I always cringe when I see a D ring hanging from that thin metal loop. Like Scuba said, SDORI makes some nice ones, and you can also just grab another hook from a JY to put on the driverside.

I have bought two new pick-ups, 81 and 85. They both came with the passenger side hook and had holes in the driver’s side frame for a hook. Also, the valance below the bumper had a small notch on the passage side for the hook, but not on the driver’s side.
Somewhere in the world Toyota must have used the driver side hook holes.

I love how napa has 5 different selections for tow hooks, all of them are the same but 2 are chrome (yuck) and there are 4 different prices. Haha.

Heres a pic, because everyone loves pics.
