22re turns over but won't start

22re turns over but won't start
I recently got a 93 standard cab with a 22re with 154k on it. I have never had a problem with the truck starting, but when the truck was warmed up and I started it, it would seem to have a mis and idle very low...
This morning I go to start my truck and it just turns over and won't start up. I have done a little research and the only thing I have come up with is my timing chain is shot I am going to go check to see if I am getting fuel to the fuel rail and spark but from the mis and low idle when it was warmed up I am think my timing chain slipped or something.

Just went a pulled one of the spark plugs and I wasn't seeing any spark when I turned it over. So should I pull the distributer cap off and see if it broke or corroded?
I am very new to toyota and working on cars in general so this is all new to me.

one of the best and cheapest testing tools for ignition problems. Good thing to have is this:

Uh.....if it were the timing chain, the symptoms would be qualitatively different. You'd get no compression and the motor would turn slowly as the valves are interfering with cylinder (correction....piston) movement. I doubt you're having this problem.
Could be that your having problems with the cold start system or the idle air valve is not functioning. My guess is the cold start system. Locate the sensors on the front of the motor. There's two.....one green and one brown. The brown one is the timing switch for the cold start. If it goes bad, it won't ground signaling the cold start injector to pulse fuel on start up. So, pull the connector off, run a wire from the ground side (forget which side that is, but there's only two, so only one will work) and to the battery. Make sure the connection is solid. Then, try to fire the truck up. If it still won't start, keep the ground wire connected, pull the cold start injector from the upper air intake manifold (plenum) and see if the injector is pulsing fuel. If not, then the wiring is bad somewhere or the injector has burned out.
Start there and post back. If you don't post back, you will be severly harrassed by the gentleman above. He's gnarly. Don't tempt him.

Ha getting good advices these days is tough..
Well I grounded the spark plug to the exhaust manifold and didn't get spark, what would cause me not the get any spark?
Also what hose do I pull from the fuelrail to see if I am getting fuel?
After I check those i'll get some wire and check those sensors.

Oh! Yeah, that would certainly be a problem....haha. Sorry I didn't reply sooner. I kinda have my hands in several threads right now........and usually do.
Nice that it was a simple fix! And, you're welcome fo the advice.

Did it hurt? Last time I had plastic and metal in my ear, I had to flush it good with syringe and salt water. You might try that. Hopefully it hasn't lodged in your brain.....

Hahaha. Funny, guys.
That reminds me, I can't find my spare EFI fuse that I ALWAYS take with me in my rig. Especially on long trips... Picking one up ASAP.
Glad to hear your back on the road, JD!

God I wish that was my problem with Tippy. We just did the timing chain and somewhere along the way the cams aren't aligned with the chain and distributor. Though I will go check that fuse now!

kinda having the same problem. Cranks but no start. Got spark and fuel. I did the fuel pump test and it truns on. I can hear a hiss next to the fuel rail that normal? Don't see any gas leaking or vapors. Will try those cold start just someone said. Fuses and relays test good battery good. New plugs. Grabbing new cap today. Any other ideas? 86 22re efi pickup was in big puddle. Changed oil as well.

You did the fuel pump test, but will it not run then, either?
Hiss next to the fuel rail? Is it actually coming from the fuel rail? Which area near the fuel rail is it coming from? A more specific location would help.
