22re oxygen sensors

22re oxygen sensors
Are the oxygen sensors different on different model 22re's? My dads oxygen sensor went on his 95 4 runner so i gave him one of a 91 pickup i had but the plug in was different. Do they have to be the same year or something? Then his mechanic put one on the truck of a toyota camery. Will this even do anything? He said the motor is a little shakey. And it seems to burning the gas rich i think he said. Hes wondering if its because of the camry sensor on it. He also just had the headgasket and timing chain done on it.

Did it throw any codes when the first one went ??? Sounds like an O2 sensor problem to me my truck did the same thing .... I had a buddy working at the parts store and he got me a sensor for $75 that was listed at $270 thats Canadian of course ....

His check engine light came on. He had it on the computer and the oxygen sensor came up. After he had the motor work done and that other sensor put on it he drove it for a day or so and the light came back on.

They changed every few years and different motors have different ones, Calif vs Fed/Canada, 2WD vs 4WD. Yes, you have to use the right sensor. At best, using the wrong sensor will cause the motor to run poorly, and at worst you can damage your ecu.
