Toyota Pickup Build Takes Member Back to the Future

Obviously, we were more than a little jealous of the OP. For one, because his dream ride is awesome. And also because he scored such a beautiful truck to start with. Most folks with this kind of vision have to start with a total beater, after all. But that didn’t mean there still wasn’t a good bit of work to be done.

“There are several things I need to do to get this going, such as fixing the leaking knuckles, stabilizer and shock replacement, catalytic converter and O2 sensor replacement, upholstery update, window tint, roll bar, bumpers, etc. So the first thing to tackle is the catalytic converter and O2 sensor to get this boy to pass California smog emissions.”

With the project underway, it didn’t take long to start taking shape.

“I added tint all around the windows. I liked the way it looked in the movie and I think it makes it pop more in person. The truck also needed the correct rims. While researching this project, with the help of Greg’s Restoration, I was able to easily identify the rims as U.S. Wheel Model 94 Black 15×8.

The great thing about living in Southern California is that I went to the local high school (Whittier High School) where Back to the Future was filmed. So I decided to take an updated picture next to the school’s auditorium where George McFly knocked out Biff.”
