Toyota Pickup Build Takes Member Back to the Future

Midlife crisis or the fulfillment of a childhood dream? Either way, this movie tribute Toyota pickup is just plain awesome.

When we’re young, we’re full of ambition yet short on the means to act on it. So we’re left to dream of the day when we can finally own our favorite rides. But then, when we get older, life often gets in the way of fulfilling those dreams. And few actually wind up owning those very rides once they have the means to do so. But that wasn’t going to be the case for YotaTech member T85 and his dream Toyota pickup.

Like many of us that grew up in the ’80s, the OP carries a certain affinity for Back to the Future — in particular, the Toyota pickup driven by the film’s main character, Marty McFly. To the point where he wanted to recreate that exact truck in the flesh.

“Well after years of hunting, tracking, and chasing, the search has finally ended. Call it a mid-life crisis or just fulfilling a childhood dream of owning the Marty McFly truck. Either way, the time has come.

I am starting this build with my newly acquired 1985 Toyota SR5 Xtra Cab 4×4. The previous owner did a lot of the hard work, which I am grateful for. It includes a rebuilt 22RE motor,  fresh paint job, new bumpers, and a cleaned up interior.”
