TAV Will Build the Off-Road Toyota of Your Dreams

If you are the proud owner of a Toyota truck or SUV, you know how good they can perform in hairy terrain from the factory. However, that doesn’t mean that upgrading a Toyota to perform even better isn’t an option. Let us introduce you to Tactical Application Vehicles, or shorted as “TAV.” Their ideology is to build the best possible vehicle for you to continue your adventure to wherever you can imagine, whether it’s your local trail road or a cross-country expedition. Let’s explore what the company is willing to do to your Toyota and the variety of packages they offer for your build.

TAV offers three stages of modification with “Stage 1” being the most mild and “Stage 3” being the most aggressive. According to their website, Stage 1 takes the obviously capable platform and increases the load carrying capacity without any loss in ride quality. The emphasis on this package is a mid-travel suspension setup that swaps out weaker factory components in the suspension in order to reduce the stress on the chassis while off-road. This allows for comfort on moderate trails without compromise.

An example setup of this stage 1 setup for a 2005 to present Toyota Tacoma would include a 2.5″ King Shock Remote Reservoir Coilover in the front and Smoothbody Rear coils with compression adjusters. In addition, Total Chaos upper control arms, Moog tie rod ends, and custom Alcan leaf springs. For wheels and tires, they recommend Method Race wheels or Hutchinson Bead Lock wheels paired with 33″ Toyo Open Country M/T or R/Ts.

The Stage 3 options obviously retain all of the modifications from the previous two stages, but add some hardcore features to ensure you are getting every last drop of performance out of your truck, such as a Magnuson supercharger and front and rear air locking differentials.
