Supercharged Tundra Screams for the Heavens

By -

Tundra with a supercharged iForce 5.7-liter V8 sings to us all with its insane supercharger whine and brutally loud Borla exhaust.

The Toyota Tundra’s mighty 5.7-Liter iForce V8 is a fantastic engine. However, some people aren’t entirely satisfied with its 381 factory horsepower. Luckily, there’s a solution for that. These engines are stout enough that adding forced induction is a non-issue. So much so, that up until 2015, Toyota Racing Development offered a warranty-compliant supercharger assembly for this powerful engine. Magnuson Superchargers also offers a kit for the mighty 5.7, so discontinuing the TRD parts has not left 5.7 owners high and dry.

While we don’t know which supercharger is on the truck in this video posted by “almcbundy22” on youtube, we certainly know that we like it a lot. We can’t really think of many things that outdo the fantastic sound this beast makes as it wails down this quiet mountain roadway.

While it isn’t the highest quality footage out there, we can’t fault the poster. This footage is well over five years old. We’ve all seen what a Tundra looks like, and we’ll credit the blurriness to it being so fast you can’t see it when it goes by. However, what’s important is that the sound quality is pretty dang good. Before the truck gets anywhere near the center of the frame, you can hear the supercharger wailing to its heart’s content. Once it goes by, you get the full brute of 5.7 liters of truth rattling your eardrums. Headphone users beware.

This video doesn’t have a whole lot of activity, but one comment may just be the understatement of the year.

“Bet this thing is a blast!” says youtube user sokodad

That is absolutely a bet you’d be winning, good sir.

While there is no longer be a TRD option, the folks at Magnuson are ready and willing to take your money. Plus, these older trucks are well out of the warranty period anyway. If you’ve got one and you’re ready to drop some money, go nuts! You won’t regret it. After all, you can’t put a price on the smile a supercharged V8 will spread across your face.
