Nothing in life is perfect — including the Toyota Tacoma. Here are eight things superfans hate about their rigs.

There are lots of things to love about the Toyota Tacoma. After all, it’s a reliable, capable, rig that also holds its value. So even if you have to sink some cash into an older model? Plenty of experts will tell you the trucks are worth the investment. But unless this is your first time on the Internet, you’re likely aware that the harshest criticisms of anything — be they restaurants, bands, or vehicles — come from the superfans.

So to find out what pet peeves the enthusiast community has about the beloved mid-size pickup, I focused on the third-generation trucks, and went down a deep rabbit hole on YouTube.

Unsurprisingly, I found that a lot of folks had similar issues. In the interest of full disclosure, I want to say that while I watched a lot of videos, I found the ones by Squared Away Everyday, Yota Xpeditionand Matt’s Taco Truck to be the most comprehensive. On that note, here we go.

On long steep grades, many fans have complained that the six-speed automatic can’t find a happy place. Given that drivers can shift manually using the paddles, this isn’t the end of the world, but it certainly can be irritating. Of course, you can avoid this one by opting for the stick.
