Land Cruiser Troop Carrier

While it was built to be a workhorse, this Toyota Land Cruiser appears to have led a cushy life.

Even taking into account the crazy prices for new and used cars right now, the Toyota Land Cruiser is a hot property. So if you’re sitting on a particularly unique version with a super-low number of miles on the clock, it makes sense you’d want to capitalize on it. Which brings us to the lovely 1994 HZJ75 Land Cruiser Troop Carrier I stumbled across on Craigslist in New York.

According to the ad, it’s an unrestored survivor, and in the nearly three decades since it rolled off the line, it’s covered on 42,000 miles. That low figure is even more impressive when you consider this rig was originally owned by the Western Australian government, and saw service as a firefighting vehicle. That means it’s both right-hand drive, and also finished in a Toyota Orange Red 000, which was apparently used exclusively for Australian fire service trucks.

Now, confirming that killer pedigree might take a little bit of sleuthing. But given the huge enthusiast community surrounding these rigs, it probably wouldn’t be too difficult. And aside from the history, it looks to be in killer shape. In its current setup, this Land Cruiser is ready to carry a whopping 11 people. Though if you’re not carpooling for the Brady Bunch, the extra space would make it perfect for overlanding.

Under the hood, it’s packing Toyota’s venerable 1HZ diesel mill, which is mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Up front, there’s a period-correct ARB front bumper, and it’s currently riding on a set of Fifteen52 Analog wheels painted to match the contrasting white roof. The tires are fresh General Grabber 285s, and those concerned about originality will be pleased to learn the original Toyota rims come as part of the deal.

There’s lots more info on and pics on the listing, and there’s also a video which provides a walk-around and a chance to see it in action. The price is a not-insignificant $69,995, but given the squeaky-clean condition of this baby, I think they’ll probably get it. Hell, if this had been listed on an auction site like Bring a Trailer, it likely would’ve already crested that mark.
