Toyota Hilux McDonald's Happy Meal Toy Japan

This new Toyota Hilux Happy Meal toy has us green with envy, as the tiny replica of the rugged pickup is downright cool.

Though most of us have outgrown McDonald’s famous kid’s offering known as the Happy Meal, others don’t care about things like “suggested age,” and even go so far as to collect cool toys when they’re offered with those particular meals on occasion. However, it’s been some time since we’ve seen cool car toys offered in conjunction with the iconic McDonald’s kid’s meal, which is why our interest was piqued when we came across what Japan is getting – a Toyota Hilux toy, which has us more than a bit envious.

It’s already bad enough we can’t get the actual Toyota Hilux in America, which – even though it shares some things in common with the Tacoma – is a legendary model in the automotive world, largely thanks to its famous appearance in the original Top Gear. There, the truck proved to be essentially indestructible, creating a reputation that has endured ever since.

This new toy features a black paint job with the classic red and gold McDonald’s graphics, and looks to be a quality piece for something that’s essentially a throw-in with an affordable meal, at least. It’s also just the latest collaboration between the global hamburger maker and Toyota, which have previously teamed up to create everything from an 86 racer to a GR Supra and everything in between.

Japanese customers can score their Toyota Hilux Happy Meal toy now, but sadly, it likely won’t be coming to the U.S., because, well, Toyota doesn’t even sell the actual pickup here. Of course, we imagine that at least one or two will make their way to an online auction site or retailer, because things like this often do, so perhaps we’ll have a shot at bringing one stateside in that manner. Otherwise, young folks (or grown-up kids) in Japan will be the only ones that get the chance to play around with a tiny replica of one of the most durable vehicles ever conceived.
