Importing a Pair of Toyota Hilux Models
But as they often do, plans began to change. In this case, simply because of a desire to keep things simple.
“I have thought about the e-locker more and actually sold the unit I had in the shop. I have decided to use the limited slip it has in the rear and install a non e-locked high pinion front diff with a limited slip as well. This will provide added traction for off road but have no electrical connections, which this truck doesn’t have already. There is no ECU in this truck as it’s all mechanical and I want to keep it that way. I figured I wouldn’t off road it like the Z-runner, and e-lockers were overkill.”
And before long, the home built rock sliders were ready to roll.
As of now, the OP has plenty of plans for the future. The problem, as always, is finding time to get the work done!
“I got the first set of zinc plated RHD high steer arms, lower caps, and 25mm pin kit from Marlin Crawler. The RHD IFS box is here and ready to be installed. This will be the first thing I tackle in the new shop. I also have a HP front diff and 4.88 gears along with the wife axle kit, too. Been sitting on the parts for a while.”
In the meantime, you can bet we’ll be keeping up with the build process and adventures of the OP’s Toyota Hilux. And you can (and should) do the same by heading over here!
