Hilux Comes Out Tops in Tug of War with Smoking Ranger

By -

With just a metal bar and plenty of dirt between them, Hilux and Ranger pull each other to an impasse, but not without breakage.

The Toyota Hilux is the toughest non-military truck in the world. It can survive collapsing buildings, traverse rough seas, conquer volcanoes, dominate lands of ice and snow, and even carry guerillas into battle in the desert. Toyota’s baddest truck is truly unkillable, and unstoppable.

And now, the Hilux can add “winning tug of war challenges” to the list. YouTuber allistairc123 attended a charity tug of war and family fun day a while ago, bearing witness to the Toyota’s strength and durability against a formidable competitor, a Ford Ranger Wildtrak.

Hilux v Ranger Tug

“So we have a Hilux versus a Ranger tug o’ war,” he said. “I wonder if she’ll beat it.”

And with a drop of an arm, both trucks go to town on the dirt with a metal bar between them. The Hilux has four passengers in the cab, including one man doing his best to keep his beer in his goblet. The Ranger is rumored “to have a big tub of water in the back,” and not much else.

And though it looks like the Ranger is putting in the effort, spinning all four of its wheels to keep its place, the Hilux is the one hardly working to do the same. In fact, the Ranger is smoking all the way through the first pull, while the Toyota hardly pulls a muscle. In the end, the Hilux takes the round for handling everything well, even if neither truck got over the other.

After switching places and a new line drawn, the Hilux continues its dominating stand-off, one of its passengers still holding on to his beer. The Ranger, meanwhile, still continues to smoke while doing all it can to pull the sturdy Toyota across the line. Alas, all it can do is dance the two-step all over the dirt.

The second round ends like the first: at an impasse. However, the winner is still the Hilux, if only because it didn’t break a sweat (or anything else, for that matter) holding its ground against the Ranger.
