Gorgeous Customized FJ40 Going To Auction
Classic FJ40 has a host of tasteful modifications, including a V8 powerplant, lifted suspension setup, and disc brakes all around.
The Toyota Land Cruiser is an amazing monument of Toyota’s notoriety for building rugged and reliable offroad vehicles. They have seen all sorts of modifications and uses over the years. However, it is getting a bit harder to find FJ series Land Cruisers in really nice shape. Thankfully, there are still a handful of wonderful people keeping them alive and well. Additionally, many find ways to tastefully modify and update the older chassis without ruining the allure.
This FJ40 is set to sell at Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale auction in 2020. While it may not be all-original, we still think it could fetch quite a pretty penny as it is very tastefully modified. Inside and out, this FJ has appropriately been loved and cared for.
Under the hood of this FJ40 sits a fuel injected Chevy 350 Vortec engine. It’s mated to a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, it features a positraction rear end that is freshly rebuilt. This is a nice upgrade, as you get all the signature small block Chevy power and torque while still maintaining the benefits of fuel injection. Easy cold starts and decent fuel economy for eigh cylinders make this Land Cruiser a great daily driving option. It also has a set of custom headers to ensure you get the iconic V8 rumble. Don’t worry about stopping al that extra power, either, as it has been converted to discs all around.
Just because it’s automatic doesn’t mean you’re losing the nostalgia of the classic FJ shifter, though. The centerpiece of the interior is the Lokar floor shifter, which maintains the classic long-throw appearance. The classy interior doesn’t stop there, though. It features a beautifully maintained dash and cozy leather seats that will make you want to stay inside it all day long.
While it’s fresh paint and top make it show-ready, don’t think for a second it isn’t ready to rumble offroad. It’s two-inch lift and Old Man Emu suspension kit compliment it’s set of front and rear winches in making this FJ one top tier offroad machine. It’ll take on just about any trail or mountain road you could throw at it.
Overall, this FJ40 is a beautiful example of a highly functioning and highly modified classic. It would make an amazing driver both on and off-road, and we are extremely jealous of whoever winds up buying it. If you’d like a chance to own it, it’ll cross the block in Scottsdale during Barrett-Jackson’s January 11-19 2020 auction event. Happy bidding!
