Prices for Clean, Low-Mile Toyota Pickups Aren’t Bonkers

1985 Toyota Pickup

Classic Toyota pickups might be getting more collectible, but these trucks aren’t out of reach.

Unfortunately, it’s a feeling that a lot of enthusiasts are all-to familiar with. You fall in love with a vehicle, and then before you know it, the object of your adore has been identified as a classic. The next stage, where prices get inflated into the stratosphere, is where things get really heartbreaking.

But fortunately, as desirable as they’ve become, that hasn’t happened with Toyota pickups yet. And as proof, check out this cream puff I just discovered while cruising on Craigslist recently. In case it gets snatched up, I’ve pasted the full text of the ad below.

Hi I’m selling my 1985 Toyota pick up it’s all original 1 owner has low miles 125,000 always serviced and maintained on time great truck runs & drives excellent it’s a manual 4 cylinder 22r motor 2wheel drive recently serviced & installed new battery new tires new brakes smogged and new registration this truck is turn key and ready to go no accidents no rust straight body if your looking for a classic Toyota this would be it very rare to see these truck in this shape and with this mileage hard to find asking $7,500

Now, I don’t know about you, but that sounds pretty great to me. And honestly? The most important thing I’m seeing in this ad is the mention that this rig doesn’t have any rust. Because while we all know that Toyota mechanicals are legendarily robust, the tin worm doesn’t care how much R&D went into making the powertrain bulletproof.

Once it gets its hooks in, a trooper like a Toyota or a perpetual project like a Maserati both die the same way.

While 7,500 isn’t exactly throw-away money, it’s not breaking the bank either. And while I hesitate to speculate on vehicles — because I lose money on every single one I buy — I think something like this little Toyota has hit the bottom of its depreciation mark.

Keep an eye on the mechanicals and keep the rust at bay, and you could likely drive this baby for a few years, and turn it around for even more than you paid for it. What do you think? Am I wrong? Hit me up and let me know, and let me know about any recent finds you may have come across too — I always like writing them up for the blog!
