2022 Toyota Tundra

The latest teaser video for the 2022 Toyota Tundra shows trick seats, new terrain modes, and wireless charging.

Another week, another drip of information about the 2022 Toyota Tundra. Last week, we got a video of the next-gen rig’s massive moonroof and power rear window. Now, the camera has panned down a bit, and that’s given us a better look at some of the truck’s tech. But before we get to that, I want to talk about how trick the TRD Pro seats look. Because along with the blood-red leather, embossed logo, and contrasting stitching, there’s also the subtle camo pattern to consider.

Personally, while I don’t hunt for anything but out-of-print vinyl and brass motorcycle bits, I love the look. Plus, the aggressive ventilation means these chairs are likely heated and cooled. Right after having four wheels and a roof? Climate controlled seats are my favorite modern creature comfort, and they should give range-topping versions of Toyota’s new brute a hyper-plush feel. Seats aside, the latest 13-second video also gives us a peak at the truck’s trick-looking drive modes dial.

The edges of the dial have beveled texture, and the Multi-terrain Select feature has modes for towing and hauling, along with Downhill Assist Control and Crawl Control.  That last one is something off-road fans have been wanted to see on the Tundra for a while. The last feature we saw here is a wireless charger, which is basically necessary upscale vehicles lately. Let’s hope Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will also work without having to plug in via USB.

If all goes according to plan, the next generation Tundra should be rolling down assembly lines in November, which means we should start seeing them in showrooms just in time for Christmas. That said, given how crazy — think human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria — the car market is right now, it’s probably safe to say the “market adjustments” are going to be pretty severe. So remember Tundra fans, patience is a virtue — and it can save you mad coin. More news on the 2022 Toyota Tundra when we have it.
