Toyota Tundra SX Package

Toyota has just released a new trim that looks like the range-topping Capstone Grade’s evil twin.

While Toyota is still in the honeymoon phase with the all-new Tundra, the company has already revealed a trick new trim which gives the big rig some killer custom flare. Dubbed the SX Package, it looks like the range-topping Capstone Grade’s evil twin. Because while there will be four exterior colors to choose from, the only finish that Toyota has released pictures of is Midnight Black Metallic — which is matte black. So if you were planning on murdering out a new Tundra? Toyota has you covered.

If the dark side vibes aren’t you’re thing, the other three color choices will be White, Magnetic Gray Metallic, and Celestial Silver Metallic. From the official press release, it’s not clear whether the two other Metallic colors will also have a matte finish. Along with the unique color choices, SX models will feature deleted door badges, black trim, black door handles, and Dark Gray Metallic 18-inch wheels. To complement the exterior, the cabins will feature black trim, as opposed to the standard smoked-silver.

To opt for the SX Package, you’ll have to get an SR5 model, and at this point, there’s no word on pricing. Otherwise, the options for SX Package models are similar to the rest of the Tundra line. Both 4×2 and 4×4 configurations are available, as it the choice of a Double Cab or CrewMax cab. Both engine options will also be on the menu, so regardless of whether you’re looking for the standard mill, which pumps out 389 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque, or the range-topping hybrid unit, with its 437 ponies and 583 pounds of twist, you’ll be happy. When properly configured, SX Package models will be able to tow up to 12,000 pounds.

Personally, I’d love to see how this rig looks with the trick red camo chairs from the TRD Pro, but I’m just glad Toyota is offering a matte finish as a factory option. Because when it comes to color? I feel like automakers — with the notable exception of Mar Mopar — have been stuck in something of a rut regarding options.  But what do you think? Would you opt for a matte-finish truck right out of the showroom? Or is this trend something you haven’t take a shine to? Hit me up and let me know!
