Our latest teaser shows off the brand new 2024 Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter, which could be the overlander’s model of choice.

We’re getting closer and closer to the official reveal of the all-new, next-generation 2024 Toyota Tacoma, and in typical fashion, the automaker has been giving us small teasers to whet our appetite and keep us excited in the meantime. The first was a peek at the TRD Pro model’s tailgate, revealing that this off-road-focused model will come equipped with a hybrid powertrain, and now, we have yet another enticing sneak peek at yet another cool variant – the 2024 Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter.

If the Trailhunter name sounds familiar, that’s because it actually debuted at last year’s SEMA Show in the form of a Tundra concept, along with a new line of parts and accessories. That concept was equipped with a host of them, including a roof rack, bed rack, tent, refrigerator, updated bumpers, lighting, and suspension, plus some extra skid plates to protect its vitals.

It’s unclear if the 2024 Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter will come equipped with any of these goodies, but we do know that it’s wearing at least a couple – an ARB rear bumper (and likely a front one too), as well as red tow hooks. Otherwise, this teaser shows off darker headlights with “Trailhunter” script, flared fenders, and all-terrain tires, along with a unique Trailhunter badge adorning the tailgate.

The automaker says that the Tacoma Trailhunter will “will build upon Toyota’s legendary off-road and overlanding credibility with purpose-built engineering and robust components,” so we imagine that it will, at the very least, be available with a wide array of accessories geared precisely toward that, along with a handful of upgrades that make it more capable off the pavement than its regular brethren.

As for the 2024 Tacoma in general, it’s getting a rather massive and overdue makeover from top to bottom. It will reportedly ride on the same TNGA-F platform as its big brother, the Tundra, and offer at least two powertrain options – the turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder present in the 2023 Highlander, which churns out 265 horsepower and 309 pound-feet of torque in that model, as well as a turbo 2.4-liter four-cylinder hybrid already used by the Lexus RX 500h, which makes 366 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque.
