2022 Toyota Tundra: Capstone Grade Will be ‘Halo’ Trim
Exclusive colors, luxurious interior appointments, and great standard tech give Toyota’s Capstone Grade Tundra an upscale edge.
The full-size truck segment remains red hot, and Toyota has just released the details on its range-topping version of the 2022 Tundra. And if bling is your thing? This might be the rig for you — so meet the Capstone Grade. It’s loaded with luxury touches, including chrome 22-inch rims, a diameter which makes them proper dubs. As the press release notes, these are the largest the company has ever offered on the Tundra, and all-new trim level comes with plenty more upscale touches.
Along with a body-colored outer grille frame, the grille inset and mirror caps are chrome too. There’s also a chrome Tundra insert in the tailgate, and Capstone badging on the front doors. All Capstone Grade trucks will be equipped with the model’s more robust powertrain, a hybrid system good for 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque. To help folks climb into the big rig, automatic running boards will be standard on the Capstone, in addition to a power bed step at the back.
The interior will be finished with a Capstone-exclusive black-and-white color combo, and features an illuminated Capstone logo on the dashboard. Open-pore walnut trim will amplify the luxurious look, and acoustic front door glass will ensure that little noise from the outside world reaches into the cabin. The Tundra’s massive new moonroof will be along for the ride, and as you’d expect, this trick truck will be loaded with tech, including wireless Apple CarPlay, Wi-Fi, and a 12-speaker JBL premium audio system.
All Capstone models will be built in the CrewMax configuration, and buyers will get a choice of six exterior color finishes, including Wind Chill Pearl, Magnetic Gray Metallic, Celestial Silver Metallic, Midnight Black Metallic, Supersonic Red, and Blueprint. Additionally, Capstone trucks will come standard with the Towing Technology Package, which takes the guesswork out of hooking up and driving with a trailer.
