New post details affordable swap and is already gaining steam in the forums, becoming an invaluable resource offering excellent results.

YotaTech wants to give a shout out to forum member “79Chevota” for his excellent comprehensive new post that details his “1979 Toyota full-width swap.” If you have not read it yet, we suggest you check it out now because it’s a pretty great post and you can tell he spent a lot of time on it to ensure he is providing proven suggestions that garnered him the excellent results displayed in the post’s many original photos.

“The aim of this thread is to trace my project from start to finish,” he says. “As I put full-width axles on my 1979 Toyota pickup, with as much pertinent information as possible and little else. I am creating this thread as I feel it is unique in what I am looking to do in its specific details, and [I] have not been able to find an exact example elsewhere. Hopefully, it will be able to help someone looking to do a very similar project.”

The awesome new post by “79Chevota” is the type of stuff that we really appreciate and like to see in the forums, because here at Yotatech, we just always feel a lot more confident in starting a new project when we know it was suggested by a fellow Toyota truck owner who put in the work to get the results he or she is sharing. This new post includes virtually every detail that you can think of, from the costs and overall goal of the project to a little bio on the 1979 Toyota truck that was converted to a Chevy 350 small block with a mild cam and TH350 transmission with a shift kit hooked to a Toyota transfer case sometime in the early 1980s.”

“At the time of starting this project, the odometer read roughly 31,900 miles,” says the truck owner and machinist. “It has a tom woods conversion driveshaft and narrowed Ford 9″ converted to Toyota 6 lug pattern 6×5.5 the axles have 4.10s.”

‘I am creating this thread because it is unique and I have not been able to find an example elsewhere. Hopefully, it will help someone looking to do a similar project.’

And when “79Chevota” said this is a comprehensive thread, he meant it. And the Utah-based Toyota truck owner backs up that claim with not only a lengthy detailed guide to the project but also includes some great images.

The 1979 Toyota full-width swap post was started recently and it is already getting some decent engagement, with fellow forum members’ inquiries and advice already helping to build this thread into a very valuable guide for Toyota truck owners seeking solid information on engine swaps and installation.

“The truck’s looking good” comments forum member “SwampedOut.” “With the sale of all the parts you’re pulling, this might turn out to be a really affordable project.”
