Toyota Tacoma Offroading In The Desert Sand Dunes

Auto sales search engine’s research lists the top 10 least depreciating vehicles with Toyota Tacoma, Tundra, and 4Runner all making the cut.

It’s relatively common knowledge that Toyota trucks and SUVs hold their value pretty well. The brand’s reputation for being reliable, alongside its lineup’s remarkable offroad capabilities, keeps them a hot commodity for years. Now, though, we know exactly where they stand in the grand scheme of resale value.

The automotive search engine I See Cars is an excellent resource for finding vehicles for sale across a plethora of websites. Additionally, they recently released a bunch of data regarding depreciation, including this overall top ten list. The rankings are based on depreciation over the first five years of ownership and compared to the average depreciation over 7.7 million new and used car sales.

The Tacoma is quite the resale success story based on their data. It comes in at number three for the best value retention of all sales, outranking both the Tundra and 4Runner. Furthermore, it is ranked number one for trucks with the best resale value. Again, beating out the Tundra, as well as the whole lineup of American brand staples like Ford, Chevy, and Dodge. It has an impressive depreciation average of only 32%.

4Runner Rock Crawling Offroad Trail In Mountains

The 4Runner sits dead in the middle at spot number five, with an average five-year depreciation of 36.5%. The Toyota flagship SUV also marks spot number three on the list of best resale value SUVS, falling short to the Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited. The Rav4 and Highlander also made the top ten SUV list.

Toyota Tundra Plowing Through Mud In The Woods

Bringing up the middle at position number four on the top ten list is the Tundra. It barely edges out the 4Runner with a depreciation average of 35.9%. Though it doesn’t quite carry the resale value of its little brother, it still compares well to other trucks. It sits in second just below the Tacoma on the truck list, too.

Overall, buying a new Toyota truck or SUV is sure to put a smile on your face. Not just due to the driving experience, but also because of the peace of mind you have knowing you made a sound investment. Who could be upset by that?
