Toyota Tacoma Owner Shares Inspiring Roadtrip in the Great Outdoors

By -

Mountains, Rivers, and Bison… Oh my! The 2018 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road equips you to see it all.

Nothing compares. Wide-open skies cascading over serene snow-capped mountains. Winding roads which carve through woodland like rivers through western canyons. Towering evergreens scraping deep into the atmosphere. We often find our true selves in the great outdoors. Lost in the expanse of nature, we somehow find our place in the world. The reliance on nature and unpredictability of the journey somehow pushes us deeper into ourselves. It’s something deeply personal. Something spiritual.

Countless individuals have sought themselves throughout the millennia. Teddy Roosevelt made his pilgrimage to the Dakota Badlands. Alexander Supertramp attained freedom deep in the Alaskan bush. And most recently, Erick Turkovich found joy in the national parks of the western United States. Over the course of 7,000 miles, six states, 10 national parks, and 31 days, Turkovich commandeered his 2018 Toyota Tacoma on a journey many of us dream of, but rarely experience. He shares his post-collegiate expedition in a breathtaking video from Local Speed Drivers.

“On this road trip I did, I put about 7,00 miles on the truck,” says Turkovich in the video. “I drove through California, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, and Washington.”

“It was kind of my big trip after college, what I wanted to do,” he adds. “I did a lot of hiking, off-roading and exploring.”

Throughout the video, we are treated to several stunning scenes. Wildlife such as bison, foxes, and bears traverse the rugged landscape. Turkovich maneuvers through varying terrain, showcasing the truck’s abilities amidst the striking backdrops.

“In Glacier National Park, we were driving out of the park, and all of a sudden, we see this big bull moose walk across the road, which was pretty cool,” says Turkovich. “It walked across the road and into a huge lake.”

Turkovich drives a 2018 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road 4×4. The Tacoma TRD Off-road boast 276hp @ 6,000 rpm and 265 Lb-Ft. of torque @ 4,600. This power comes from the 3.5L 2GR V-6 engine. The TRD Off-Road offers certain improvements on the base model, such as a navigation system, optional manual transmission, and descent control. This model carries on the off-roading legacy and reliability synonymous with the Toyota brand.

Turkovich is undoubtedly getting the most out of his Tacoma. Visiting 10 national parks in a single month is no small task, but his rig is certainly more than capable.
