There is a registered user here selling 22re turbo manifolds in the market section. They look like great manifolds, but I noticed something on his website, http://www.fullboogie.net/1090580.html, two kits for pickups/4runners:

Emailed the company for more info, heres the scoop.
Our kit includes:
Mild Steel headers
Stainless steel crossover from passenger header up to drivers header with stainless flex pipe
Precision SC50 Turbocharger w/stage 3 exhaust wheel, .63 A/R housing and "E" compressor cover, 460 HP capable
Internal wastegate assembly with actuator, boost is set at 7 PSI
Downpipe is 2.5" all Stainless, you can order with options such as Stainless O2 or EGT bungs welded in
All Intake piping is 2.5" Stainless
Braided stainless oil feed and return lines
Turbo-XS by-pass valve

We also have an Intercooler option for guys with built motors that want to run in excess of 10~12 PSI, you do NOT want to run more than our kit set boost of 7 PSI, at this boost level everything is perfectly safe but just a few more PSI has the stock fuel system running out of steam.....or fuel I should say, mainly the injectors are running close to 100% duty cycle and the A/F ratios start heading up to 12.0 to 1 which for us is starting to get unsafe for a street vehicle that needs reliability.

WRX gained about 60 hp with a turbo, so 50hp on our engines sounds around the average range... STi motor EJ25T has more than just a turbo slapped onto the engine. A lot of engineering goes into getting more ponies. Plus.. the 2.5rs isn't a mundane motor. It makes more horsepower than our 3.slows, the car is lighter, and is full time all-wheel drive... what more could someone ask for (besides an STi version). Anyway, a 98-01 2.5rs is my next vehicle... Then I'm swapping in an EJ25T to replace the "mundane" 165hp EJ25....

When I first started researching turbos and turbo kits years ago I couldn't fathom why these kits were going for $2-4K. Now that I have bought everything and fully planned out the install, I know why.

Let me put it this way also. ONE 3" mild steel aluminized u-bend for the exhaust goes for $15-20. I need at least 8 for my intake and exhaust. Price of steel has gone up, and I'm getting gouged because of it.
But that's not the only good that has gone up in price.

how about addressing the weaknesses in the 3.0's top end? they've proven to be unstable enough with normal aspiration, a turbo sounds scary.
on a 22RE though, a mild turbo sounds like just the ticket for me...hmmmm....

well the aftermarket turbo header they are offering should rectify or help rectify numer 6 exhuast valve issue. The HG is kinda worrysome though in post 90 3vze's... I have heard of several nice aftermarket HG's for the 3vze's though...

Its not just the fact that you are bolting on 50 horsepower...its the potential down the road. He stated that the turbo would support 400+ right? That means later on, when you want to dump more money into your truck for a full engine build with forged internals and new fuel system, you can basically just turn up the power at will (of course you will need some sort of fuel control to tune correctly). Beyond that, the typical turbo system for cars runs 4-5k. 2.5k is a bargain.

Here is the compressor map for that turbo:
If you were to up the boost past 25psi and get the turbo to put out it's top flow of 45-48lb/min you might have close to 450hp. You would also have scorching hot air coming out of the compressor and need a massive intercooler to cool it down. Not to mention massive injectors to feed the beast.
I just get a kick out of the marketing that states - this turbo can produce 450hp! without going into the specifics.
A more realistic goal with this kit would be 200-250hp at the crank with supporting mods. And yes, that means fuel pump, injectors, and intercooler. You COULD get 250-300hp at the crank out of the kit, but only if you know what you are doing and have deep pockets.
Just want to calm any people who get all excited when they see the 450hp marketing figure.

High price tag
Yes i agree that kit is well worth the money, I have delt with turbos on cars and know the price tag they come with, however we are talking about a 3.slow base engine, I personally couldnt justify spending that much on such a problematic engine, I am replacing the engine all together with a 2LT Turbo Deisel, i mean lets think about this, 25-30 mpg and massive amounts of torque, plus ITS A DEISEL!!!!

a 2LT doesn't make THAT much power, it's a little bit peppier than a 22RE if it's running well. and diesels are entirely different animals when it comes to turbos, there's no chance for preignition so you can run as much boost as your pistons/head gaskets can take, and just watch your EGTs.
