Its really not that bad of a job to do.
Few inches out the middle, few out of the front side step.
You're looking at maybe 3 days of solid work..
And if you have a concrete floor it gets even easier because you can flip the whole bed upside down and use the straight bedrails to bob it up.

Well that last pic is just done in paintshop. Currently it still looks like the original pic. Just showin what it will look like in a few weeks. I think it'd be cool to see more of these around. When I was considering doing this setup I got on yahoo and found this pic. It helped me decide.

As I said before I just got this truck. I don't know a lot of details about these trucks. I was wondering. Does anyone know what the wheel bolt pattern is for a 79 toyota? Also looking for some doors to build some half doors out of. Anyone got any extras or know anywhere to look?

I worked on the bed again today. I removed the side step. Cut 4" out of the center of it. Rewelded it back together. Moved the fender well forward 4". Installed everything. I don't like it. The wheel tub is still too close to the tire in the front and the side step is kinda pointy now. It also looks kinda funny. So I've decided to just remove the steps all together and move the wheel tub forward a few more inches. Doing this I won't have to section the wheel tub and I think it looks better too. I've measured this wheel opening to the factory and its only bigger by 1" so I'm just going to leave it alone. Also I will still bob the bed about 10". Heres a pic of what it will look like. I'm also going to be gettin larger tires. It will fill out the wheel wells a little better. Probably going to run 33" tires.

Well I spent a few more hours on it today. I got the side steps removed. I moved the wheel tubs forward about 4" and cut 10 1/4" off the rear of the bed. Also known as bobbing the bed 10 1/4". I haven't welded it up yet. I ran out of daylight. This weekend I will finish it up.
Sorry about not having pics. I'm working on it at my pops house and I keep forgetting my camera. I'll take some pics this weekend of the progress.

Some updated pics. All are actual pic, no photoshopping here.
I bobbed the bed 10 1/4" and welded it up today. For the most part it went together
pretty easily. I had to rework a little bit but not too much.
After cutting the bed.
Heres a pic of my dad helping out.
I know the bed looks a little off. Right now its just sitting on the frame rails and is kinda angled. It also looks a little off center. When its level and moved forward about an inch it is spot on.

I worked on the frame today. Cut out some rusted areas and reinforced others. Heres the pics.
This is where I cut out some swiss cheese metal.
Repaired.
I also cut out the spare tire holder/brace. I'm going to replace it with 2X4 metal frame.
This next pic is my project for tomorrow.

I went over to my pops house to work on it today. Got everything out and ready to go, and my grinder motor went out. Kinda broke right now so didn't actully get anything acomplished on the truck itself today. I did however make 3 templates for rusted areas on the frame. So it'll be real easy when I cut the metal. I got home and found I purchased a warranty on the grinder. So went and picked up a new one so ready to go tomorrow on it.
