redhawk427's 1998 4runner Build-Up Thread

Well im not too good at getting before and after pics but basically, when i got my 1998 4runner v6 3.4, it looked like from the factory. with white and silver and running boards etc. so im gonna start by posting what it looks like now, then as time goes on, ill add to it


This was after removing running boards, painting trim black, and stripping and painting wheels black

Took it campin after addin tie downs and some simple stuff

added a tow hook in back, added one up front, painted all, painted skid plate, painted dash bezel

i've already done the rear diff. breather, isr and deckplate mod. ill have to take some pics and put them up when i get the chance

here is a pic of my deckplate mod, along with a pic of the grill i painted black with the emblem white and i painted the rear plate trim black

I like the blacked out grill, looks good. How did you prep the chrome before painting and what kind of paint did you use?

actually all i did was clean it real good and just used the duplicolor, acrylic enamel flat black. if it doesnt last, ill strip it and redo it but so far so good. and for the emblem, i used a duplicolor acrylic enamel in gloss white
