Sorry guys. My 3 y/o son got the 24 hr flu bug from preschool and we were cleaning up vomit all night and trying to cheer him up. He's better today so I'll take another stab at it today after work.

Beautiful...I'm going with TRD coils and Bilstein HD's from a pre '07 Tundra I got off a guy for $150 for all four with TRD front coils (y/y and y/b). I'm thinking this will get me the lift and ride I want. Thanks for all the help guys I'll post again after the install.

I'm pretty sure only up to '06 Tundra suspension is a direct swap to a 3rd gen 4Runner. Might want to double check that before you tear into your truck.

Hey guys,
Thanks for all the help again. So I picked up the shocks and coils last night and what I thought were yy/by coils were actually red blue/ red yellow coils that had kind of faded leading me to believe the red was yellow. Will these guys still work on my runner or will I have to do something special? All this talk about the color coding has made me extremely paranoid... I've included a picture of them

Turns out these guys are for 07-11 Tundras and not what I needed...luckily I didn't break the bank on them. I got word of some yy/by coil/strut combos supposedly brand new in the area for $200-250/pair. What do you gents think? I need the front shocks now...mine are about dead. I'm also looking for a good rear setup to match that

I've found a thread where people are posting up which 5100 strut they used (4runner or Tundra), and what spring they used for the front lifts, and there's a guy claiming to be using the Tundra 5100 w/ '99 4runner front springs:
Shocks: Tundra BE5-6929
Springs: 99 oem tall coils
Setting: top notch(5th)
Comments: 1999 4runner Limited all stock. paired w/ LC 8wrap tundra 5100, BFG 285 75 16 load D, No Swaybars, soft ride. rides better than stock, IFS flex!.

Ordered a set of tundra 5100's from Top Gun Customz seems they have them in stock cause mine got here in 4 days Putting them on this weekend with Toytec/Eibach coils. I originally ordered the tacoma ones and after reading this thread and a few others saying they are under valved I changed my order.

No one has measured the ID of a Tacoma/4Runner coil yet? Still curious about that.
No, they don't have rubber boots, and you don't want them. You don't want dirt, funk and water working up inside the boot where it's impossible to clean out. No boot means you can keep the shafts clean after every trip offroad.

I tried measuring the Tundra TRD springs and shocks but can't with them already installed on my truck. The 4runner stock springs do barely slide over the tundra shocks but the problem is the stock 4runner springs don't fit over the Tundra bottom shock seat without hammering or Jimmy rigging. You could get it to work but its not the BEST way to go. Sorry it took so long I've been busy remodeling two bathrooms in my house.

This is a great thread. I have a 98 LTD and wanted to use the Tundra 5100's as well. Now I am rethinking them. I want to save some money and reuse my stock springs since they are not worn out even though they have 180K on them. They don't seem to be sagging right now. I did not want the Tacoma since they are soft valved. I have Downey 3" rear springs and Doetsch Tech shocks ready to go in.!! I need the front items now!!

My 5100's arrived yesterday and my Tundra TRD springs should be here today along with my new spring isolators.
Here's my rig: 96 4Runner Ltd. V6, TJM T15 with Warn M8000. I currently have a 2" Cornfed spacer lift and a 2" body lift and would at least like to retain the 2" suspension lift after the 5100's are installed. I also have a diff drop kit installed.
Soooo, with that being said what recommendations do you all have on the spring perch for the 5100's? I've read middle setting and just above the middle setting but I figure that since I have a winch and T15 I need to go one notch above the middle.
For the rear I'll be running the LC coils and currently have OME shocks (will change to Tundra Bilstein shocks later).
It's mainly my DD but I do take the occasional trail when possible and no hardcore wheeling. I'm into expedition type wheeling and mild wheeling so offroad capabilities are a plus and it needs to ride nice too.
Any and all input is greatly appreciated folks.
