How far do your tires stick out?
I want to get a new set of ProComp 16 x 8" wheels with 4" backspacing. I am trying to determine how far my tires will stick out past my sport flares.
So I am asking you, if you have 16 x 8" wheels with 4" backspacing, how far do your tires stick out past your limited or sport flares. This would be for 2000-2002 limited and sport edition 4Runners only. Please note tire size and if your running a wheel spacer or not. Also is your rear axle centered side-to-side?
Measurements would be great! Also, pictures showing this, looking down along the side of the truck from the front or back, would be greatly appreciated too.
Thanks,

Mathmatically, with a 16x8 wheel and if it had the stock 4.375", you're already sticking out 1" further than stock. Then you push it out more with the 4" backspacing and you're at 1.375" further than stock. Of course, this is with the same sized tires on both rims.

Yes, I was doing the math too, but isn't the stock wheel backspacing 4.625?
Thanks for your response.
Anyone have pictures showing their tires sticking out?

IIRC, the stock 16x7 JJ wheels have a backspacing of 4.75". A 8" wheel would stick out .5" further than a 7". 4" backspacing would add another .75, so you should stick out ~1.25" or so further than stock. Don't know if this will help you much or not, but here's a pic of a stock wheel with 285's.

i think itll be 1.75" more than stock. to keep backspacing the same (w/ 8 vs. 7) youll go 1" out only, then add the smaller backspacing. anyway, i dont know if itll stick out very much, if at all. i have the textured black flares, and i dont stick out too far past em. i got 16x8's w/ 4" bs and 285 mud terrains btw

I'm running Pro Comp 16x8 black rock crawler wheels with 4" of backspacing, on 285/75R16's. My tires stick out about an inch past my limited flares. Oh ya...no wheel spacers either.

Doh!!!! Yes, it is 4.625. I even did the measurements myself!!! So it would be 1.625" further out than stock.

Not correct. Keeping the backspacing the same (the distance between the hub contact point and the rear lip of the rim), an 8" wheel will stick out 1" further. If you wanted to have it only 0.5" more, then you have to increase the offset by 0.5".

Thanks for all the replies so far. In stock configuration my tires sit inside the fender flares by about 1/2". So adding 1.625" with the new wheels puts my tires at about 1" out from the flares. Sounds like the numbers you guys are posting confirm this.
Thanks,
Thanks,
