1997 4rnr Brake Problem
I changed my front brakes due to low pedal. The front pads were shot, maybe 1/16th left on one side. I found both front calipers to be stuck, so I replaced both front calipers, along with new rotors, and pads. I now have almost no pedal. I can pump fast and get some pedal to stop the truck. Since this seemed to be a master cylinder, and the truck has 233k miles, I put on a new (not reman) m/c, which I bled on the truck. I have bleed the brake several times. Not getting any air. But, the pedal goes right to the floor unless I pump it fast. What am I missing?

Did you bench bleed the master cylinder prior to installing in the car? Did you check the pushrod clearance?
Also, check your rear shoe adjustment. Rear shoe adjustment can play a huge role in pedal height.

I bleed the m/c on the truck ( no vise), Bad? I'm not sure what you mean by the pushrod clearance. I'll ch the rear brake. The thing is, I can pump up the pedal, but it will sink as I hold pressure.

Bench bleeding is important. You can cheat it on the car by removed the vehicles brake lines and holduing your fingers over the ports. Have somone pump untill fluid comes out both chambers. Wash all paint very good right after doing this.

I used a m/c bleeder kit, I just did it on the truck. The problem is you can't see it there are bubbles or not when doing it by yourself. I'll try it again using the method you suggested. Sounds like a good idea, Thanks!

The pushrod is what what pushes on the primary cylinder in the master cylinder. It connects your pedal to the master cylinder. If it isn't adjusted properly then you could have a loose pedal

Brakes were bled all around. I tried bleeding the m/c with the thumbs over the holes technique, but I still have the same problems. I can pump the brakes to get some pedal, and stop the truck, but it still sinks to the floor if I hold it down with steady pressure. Again, the front calipers are new, as is the master cylinder. Maybe I need a different bleeding procedure? I'll try adjusting the rear brakes tomorrow.

first of all
check for any leaks
if your truck is equipped with abs you may have some bubbles trapped in it.
do this
with engine off full bleed starting from the far wheel finishing with the nearest one(if abs is present then finish with it)
do the same with the engine running, pedal is going to get softer but it should hold not sink.if it keeps sinking repeat it again until it hold pressure.

But should have known that wasn't the case, or it would have been about not using blinkers, "at all". ya those people never drive so well do they?
And by them I mean with horizontally narrowed vision. Me of coarse, not speaking of them as people or from a certian place over sea's, say due east, or west, but definetly not north or south. You cant say I am, cause im not, but you know what I meant before I said all that to confuse anybody who might be offended becuase they got the wrong idea they think. But its a good thing there not sure if they should be offended or not, or even if any of them are reading this. And by them I mean not what you want to accuse me of cause I didnt actually say anything. Weew life story uh? But thats what it takes these days to make a joke without offending anybody.

OK, I figured it out. I had taken both front calipers off when I ordered new ones so I wouldn't have to pay the core charges. When I put the new ones on, I put them on the wrong sides. That put the bleeder at the bottom of the caliper rather than the top. DUH!
Swapped them around, bled the brakes, and they work perfectly. I knew it had to be something stupid.
