New guy with 85 4-Runner
I just traded one of my dirtbikes for a 1985 4-Runner yesterday. A 2000 KTM 640 Adventure R for 4-Runner with a 22RE, LC Engineering stage 2 ported head, Downey mid-range cam, header and a Electromotive TEC-GT stand alone engine management system that has distributorless ignition and coil packs. You can plug in your laptop and change the tune or make whatever changes you want. Supposed to be a Marlin Crawler lift, but I think it may be All-Pro? It's very softly sprung and dives pretty good under braking. Bilstein shocks. I'll have to measure the body length of them. It does have hi-steer also. The clutch doesn't start engaging until darn near the top of the pedal travel. So I expect that's on its way out. The A/C compressor kicks on, but the blower motor doesn't run. 4.88 gears and a locker in the back. I want to add some 1.5"-2.0" wheel spacers as it is still really narrow and pretty dang tall for just 33x12.50's. I also may do 35's when the 33's wear out.
The bike I traded(blue and orange one):

Watch out for shackle inversion with that 90* f/r shackle angle.
Hopefully it is new springs waiting to settle..
*edit: I would also inspect that front spring mount, it looks to be mounted at a slight downward angle (might be the pic, the one above the bike pic), should be flat and add a brace so you don't crack the frame

What is the optimal shackle angle? I might need to get the shackle mounting done over maybe?
I snapped some pics:
The other rear shackle is like this one. Why wouldn't they just use the mount already there?

You could always pull one of the leafs out of the front packs, and that will bring it down about an inch or so. Mine was up too tall as well once my springs had "settled", and pulling a single leaf fixed the problem. The addition of front spacers will also enable you to get a little more steering as well as a little wider stance. Truck looks great so far..! Subscribed.

Yes, I pulled the second one down from the main leaf out, and so far its worked great, and it also softened the ride a bit as well which was a plus. Your new wheels look great and that extra backspacing will help out alot. I really love the KM2's, they have great road manners, contour well over obstacles when aired down, and they also clean out pretty good as well. I haven't had any problems with them and would recommend them to anyone.

My rear pack was a custom mix of toyota and chevy leafs I kept playing around with, until I had the correct ride height I wanted. I also have a custom set of solid steel 1" lift blocks with machined in center pins ( which I didn't really want to run at first) but they have worked out great so far. Eventually I am going to build a custom pair of 65" leafs and cut the stock rear mounts off and move them forward for better articulation.

That Runner is up there, man! If you plan on doing any serious crawling or off roading in general, I'd try to cut down 2-3 inches instead of just 1. I've seen and heard of too many top heavy trucks rolling from such a high stance.
Still looks awesome, though!
