CrazyCat's 1984 2wd pickup build-up
My neighbors came up to me a couple weeks ago and offered me this 1984 2wd toy in trade for some transmission work on his 4 runner, seems fair i thought so i completed the work and he handed me the keys and the reg transfer papers and said shes in rough shape but she will serve you well. So i walked home and found a battery to install in this long dormant husk. I jump in and she starts in 2 cranks, pop her in drive and puttered home where i commenced an in-depth check over. She was sorta bare and confused. she was missing her box, front and back bumpers and in the engine bay some one tried to play mechanic and did a number on the vacuum system. and now PICTURES

plans for my ride
listed from closest - latest in rough order
- replace the plugs, wires, cap, rotor and fan belt
- find and stop that bloody oil leak
- replace the front bumper with channel steel
- replace the back bumper with one of tube design?
- make a better box with a wicked rack (ill try to scan the blue prints)
- exhaust stacks
- swap my auto transmission to a Manuel one (i have no idea what series to use or how to do it?)
- put a locker or a limited slip in the rear end.
- paint
- uh maybe do a 2wd - 4wd conversion but dunno if its worth it

hey dude everyone starts some where, iv seen worse :p
*update*
plugs and wires are replaced runs nicer now, the oil problems next, iv located the leak its just behind the pulley on the oil pump, when i run the truck for a bit i can see a nice spray line of oil parallel to the front of the pump/pulley. BUT there's a new problem (sigh) i woke up yesterday and went to go to work and the starter turned over 3 times then stopped the battery was dead. i got a jump, ripped out my head deck (because the connectors loose and it likes to turn on and off) and found out the overdrive light and pcb it was attached to was shattered, unplugged that. next day same problem got a jump, but tonight im going to disconnect the battery to determine if the battery is pooched or i have a phantom drain in my system

If you feel like making a drive down to Vancouver WA I have a 5spd tranny that I'd sell for cheap. Its a W-52.

She's a real beaut! Wish I lived closer I'd love to take that custom box off your hands when you get around to replacing it. Be a lot easier than building my own. Good luck with the build!
