85 4runner in Vermont
New pictures with updated wheels and tires.
The truck came to me with a few engine issues and no expense was spared in bringing everything up to snuff. The following was completed approximately 1 year and 3000 miles ago.
More upgrades and details... http://nomadcom.com/dave/
I love this truck and put a lot of money into it with the intent of keeping it a long time, but I can't deny my Classic Cruiser longing any longer and I'd like to move on to an FJ40 or FJ55.
Asking $4500 obo, pm or email: david@nomadcom.com.
Thanks for looking.
- Factory Solid Front Axle and fuel injected 22re 4-cylinder engine. 5-speed manual. Red with a white, removable top. Tan interior with easy-clean vinyl floors.
- 117,3XX miles (I still drive it a few times a week)
- Title in hand
- Really nice grey cloth front seats out of an 87 4runner SR5, these are the fully adjustable ones that everyone wants, clean and comfortable.
- Top quality Sony CD Stereo and upgraded speakers.
- Midland CB and 3ft. Firestick Firefly antenna
- 31x10.5-15 BFGoodrich All-Terrain tires all around on Land Cruiser wheels. Rears are new, fronts have about 5k miles.

- My trusted, ASE Certified mechanic took a good used short-block and thoroughly checked the bottom end, also installing new bearings. A new OEM oil pump and all new seals were installed. New timing chain seals and new water pump. New OEM Toyota Clutch. The top end was redone with a new head gasket, and the head was shaved true. A good used camshaft and valve train were installed and it is quiet and smooth. It has a new Optima Red Top battery, as well as many other "little parts" that were replaced during the engine work. Newer radiator, truck runs to spec with no overheating issues at all. In the year since the engine work, it has developed a small drip, a few drops after a long drive. The winter oil undercoating makes diagnosing the drip difficult so I planned to deal with it in the spring.
- New OEM Cat-back exhaust with a clean used front exhaust down pipe,
- The truck makes excellent power (for a 22re) and goes down the road nicely.

UPDATE!!!
Just had it in for service, the oil drip has been diagnosed as a crank pulley seal, supposedly an easy fix but it's so small I haven't bothered... too cold.
I also had the front wheel bearings adjusted and she's driving like a dream. More money out of my pocket, same price to you.
$4500 obro.

Would you want to trade?
? 85 4speed 2F 130,000
? Runs great.
? Current PA inspection
? Had a professional mechanic do a tune-up 300 miles ago.
? OME heavy-duty 2.5 lift ? Springs, Shocks, greaseable shackles, sway bar extension. 200miles (Phenomenal ride quality)
? Muffler 200 miles
? Rebuilt the front axle with all new bearings and seals (not the 3rd). 20 miles
We did a lot of other random work that I cant think of right now. The tires on the FJ in the pics are 33x9.5 BGF all terrains. Right now it has some bling aluminum rims with 32x11.5 BFG all terrains. The last 2-3ft of the passenger side frame rail will probably need replaced. The rest of the frame is great.

It's interesting how much interest I've had from people in the south on this truck. It was almost sold to a guy in Alabama last week but he couldn't figure out a cost effective way to get it down there.
I just assumed you guys would have a good selection of rust free 4runners down there but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Up here there are 2 kinds of 85's..... mint one, usually built up and costing twice what I'm asking for mine. Or basket cases with 200k miles and completely rotten bodies.
Mine is on the better side of middle. Mechanically great, lower miles then most. Less then typical rust and not built up so much tht it can't function as a daily driver.
New Price: $4250
