so im geting to tires in the morning Im going with a 265/75R16 but i dot know what kind of tires i should go with.

I do alot of road driving so i want them to last but on the weekends i go out to some bad logging roads any ideas what i should buy.

Look at Cooper's. I've had good milage with my ATR's and my next set will be STT's.

although i haven't a set of them myself, i suggest NOT getting the Cooper STT's, i have heard bad things about their road life, as in not getting more than about 20,000 miles...

maybe some BFG A/T's, Goodyear wrangler Authority's (do supprisingly well on and off the road, they are quite agressive for an A/T) i've heard of people getting upwards of 80,000 miles out of a set of BFG A/T's.

i also believe that no tire will last long at all unless you keep up on rotating them and keeping the air pressure right, as well as keeping up on maintenance of ball joints and bearings and TRE's

that's just my two pennies though buddy!! search around online theres LOTS of reviews on the web on tires

Goodyear mtrs have great traction off road. On road they are quiet, grip the road well and wear well. The only draw back is the cost.

can you still get a set of the regular MTR's??? i thought they only offered the MTR's with kevlar?

also ya might wanna check out Treadwright they have a lot of different tires, and they last a while, as well as being super duper cheap

and before anybody starts bitchin about retreads, go to the site and read about the process.....

i am running the goodyear duratracs on my wifes DD. they are a good priced tire and have great tread. the only down side to them is during the break in period they are very swooshy on pavement. but unless one like blows up i will most likely buy another set.
others i have talked to who have rant the bgf ats said that the duratracs were a lot quieter on road.

Michelin LTX m/s are bar-none the best on-road tire that you can put on a truck. The are really quiet, smooth and they will last forever. They do amazing in the snow. They aren't bad for some light off-road either. Really tough tire.


I personally prefer the BFG all-terrain for my truck. They do almost as well on-road. But they don't last as long, they are not as smooth and they are louder. They just look cooler.


These are both high-end tires. Like anything, with tires you get what you pay for.

Funny thing:
I've had Cooper STT's and BFG A/T's.
The cooper's run well on the road. I put 10K km on them and they barely wore.
I got a set used, they are great off-road even nearly bald, big sidewall lugs and corner lugs. I could still sling and claw through mud.

The BFG A/T's I bought brand new, and have less than 1k on them. So far, they are GREAT in snow and slush. They hook hard on everything. I've never taken them off-road or in the mud yet. I got them the same week winter hit here.

GoodYear DuraTrac, I love them. Amazing traction on and off road, quite, and pretty cheap, oh an they look great.

My Duratracs are comprable to my Nittos in the wet (much better than any set of BFGs I've driven on) but not quite as grippy on dry pavement but also not bad at all and have a tread design that is better for off road than my Nittos that still performed quite well in the dirt. And I got the set mounted,balanced for about $770 for 265/75/16s which at Discount is over $200 cheaper than the BFGs.

Im running the Bridgestone Revos after having the BFG AT and MT.I hated the ATs and the MTs make a lot of noise and put undue stress on your steering components around town.

The Revos
I like them on road,smooth,low road noise,long mileage but Im not sure I can get used to the non aggressive look.
They seem to perform well off road if aired way down.

The Duratrac makes more sense in this situation than the BFG KO. The Duratracs have better on road manners and are more than likely better offroad too.
