Well the fun is finally over.
The frame ended up rusting out, but the engine keeps going and will probably never die. It's a shame because after 5 yrs or so of driving this thing, I still love it. Unfortunately I don't have time to find another donor and swap everything over, so it's for sale.

I had to shim the starter back by about 1/8" with a couple washers, for proper gear engagement.
