Thread Adapter

I have a shifter knob with female M12 fine thread.
My shifter is male M8 fine thread.

I need a shifter adapter to convert M8 to M12 for the new knob.
Looked all over the place, but so far no luck. Can someone here steer me to the right place or give direction?

Looked at their sites. Interesting, but would they provide double step M8 to M12?
I'd have to check with my bolts store if they have anything like that.

You sure it's an M12? M16 is the common "universal" shift knob size. M16 x 1.50 to be exact. And I believe there is 3 thread pitches as far as the actual shifter goes. 1.25, 1.50, and 1.75. I wanna say the M8 though only has the 1.25 and 1.50. Where as if you have an M12 shift lever you can add the 1.75 in the mix.

These are the sizes typically in a shift knob adapter kit.

I screwed-in M8 nut on my shifter and it was fine thread. Don't have a thread pitcher to check the pitch.
I looked through my drawer of bolts and found that M12 fine thread bolt acres into the knob.
Both are Toyota OEM parts, just the shifter is from '74 and the knob is '80-84.

Because he'd end up crushing the now hollow bolt when he tried to clamp it enough to tap it..

Alex is this for the fj40 ? My 72's transmission shifter is 12x1.25 and the transfer case is 8x1.25.

and your probably just gonna have to make it, im sure there out there but not easy to find using google. .. i read peow's reply and went ahead and made one ..
"Because he'd end up crushing the now hollow bolt when he tried to clamp it enough to tap it.."
The bolt will not crush it has plenty of material... but drill ,tap then cut.. used a drill press to drill it and dremel to cut it(what i had handy ). took longer to find the bolt than make it.
the pic shows the adapter not threaded on all the way.
17/64 drill bit 8x1.25 tap

All the Toyota shifters we have made extensions for use M12-1.25. Most US shifters are 1/2-20. We could probably make a custom M8-M12 adapter if needed:

Since it would be hard to get tubing with thick enough walls, would probably need to make it out of solid rod, so would cost more than the basic shifter extensions.

Right, however he did not state in the original post he was using a Toyota shift knob. If you look at any of the B&M, Summit, Jegs, etc etc shift balls most if not all of them are M16 x 1.50 threads and come with the adapters for the sizes I had mentioned.

It's Toyota OEM TC shift knob from '80-'84.

How much would it cost and how long would it take to make 2" extension with M8x1.0 (inner) and M12x1.25 outer?
