mystery step side need fender flares

I just got a new project, an 85 sr5 with a 22rte but it has this mystery step side bed on it. I don't see any markings or logos. Its been shortened so i have no idea how long it was before. Its a metal bed but the fenders themselves are fiberglass. Where I live you have to have the tires completely covered so i figured id get bushwacker cut-outs and put on the truck. My question is dose anyone know what this bed came off of so i can see if bushwacker makes anything for it.

one more noticeable feature is that the gas cap is in the passenger fender. there's no cover or anything it just sits in a recessed area.

On your trailer is the left rear tire a way smaller diameter than the left front tire?

there are spots that look factory for the bolts to go in the same way the original bed is mounted up. I thought it might be made for toyotas but it had a 3in body lift under it and when i went to lower it to make it look better it would hit in several places. the front had sheet metal that went down below the bottom of the bed and would hit the gas tank. the supports for the bed would also hit the tank when trying to lower it without spacers. i had to put something like 3/4" spacer to keep it off the tank and i just cut and bent the front sheet metal back.

the frame has had some massive amounts of welding done to it including the gas tank mounts so its possible the tank is up higher then factory.

It is most likely a Californa Stepside bed made in the 1980's or one of the other brands available during that time. The California Stepside bed bolted on 1979-1983 Toyota trucks perfectly without any mods so someone modified the bed to fit the 1985 truck. It is a rare piece in original form.

The fenders are specific for that bed so be careful because they are no longer available. I suggest you ask slacker on this WEB site because he produces fiberglass parts and he really knows what he is doing.

The photos you show of John's truck and catalog, owner of Northwest Off-Road Specialties, is a California Stepside unit. There were at least two other companies that made close copies of the conversion, one in Colorado or Arizona (sold by Desert Fox I believe) and one in Texas. Both used fiberglass fenders that were different from the California Stepside units as far as appearance. The California Stepside units that John sold had to be modified slightly for installation on 1984 and 1985 Toyota trucks. I do not know about the other two as far as installation instructions.
