The adjuster told me on the phone that the place they have asses values goes off of ads in my area, he said they had found 2 for around $2800, one has 230,000 miles on it and since my truck has 293,000 miles on it, they deducted $1000 and the other $300 was for the windshield, so since I forgot that my mileage is lower, does that mean he is automatically going to add $500 the price? I found lots on autotrader for $5000 from dealerships, I know my truck is not going to be that high but still that shows that my value is more than $1500 and also hopefully the pics that I sent him of the truck actually show the shape it was in compared to the "rusty bumper mystery" pictures that they have.

Just got a call back from the insurance adjuster and he told me that they looked at my emails and pics of the truck and his manager gave him the approval for $2700 offered or $1685 if I keep the truck, I agreed and said that was fine and then he emailed me right after we got off the phone and said he got his math wrong and it is $1985 if I keep the truck.

I am happy with that and will fax the title over to him in the morning and get the check within the week.

Time to start stripping the front end.

Thanks guys but I'm not holding my breath until I have the money in my account.

Still don't know what direction I will be going with the truck yet, I have been thinking of just chopping the radiator support where it is bent by the headlight bucket and dove nose the front. Still thinking, not sure yet.

That's the game they play. Hopefully everybody is reading this. They will lowball you severely on the first offer.

Many years ago, I had a 91 Dakota pickup. Bought it with 60k on it for $5000. Totalled it 3 years later with 120k on it. It was just a basic 2WD V6 longbed that I used for taking my motorcycle to the racetrack. The first offer I got was $2200. After 3 weeks of back and forth and "checking with my manager" etc... they offered me $3900 which I took.

Yep, dealing with insurance sucks, I never thought that they would call me back within the hour and get offered $1000 more. All day Monday dealing with them was stressing me out big time.

This is typical of most insurance experiences that I have had. Last month I dealt with Allstate and they were awsome, very fair with their first offer.
