Looks nice!! Just tell her you will keep the hood closed. If it runs great, ain't no need to open the hood. right? If the heart is a Chevy, you gotta have something to show it a little bit.

I would just ask my wife "How often are you going to open the hood and have to see the color of the motor?" and then she would probably just roll her eyes and walk away but deep down know that I am right....anyway my opinion is that it would be easier and cheaper just to put a TH350 or 400 behind that motor, have you seen the price of the adapters? And you don't want to be pulling the trans after a few hard launches and switching over anyway, also the rear end is going to need some attention sooner or later.

What are the specs on the motor(besides 400 chevy v8)? I woulda kept it toyota but oh well........ your definetly gonna need to upgrade that rear axle, your trans should live unless your motor is a torque monster or you are hard on the launches.

how much hp and torque does your motor make or going to make. the torque is the parts killer. how much power can a stock tranny and rear end handle? i know you are using a chev tranny , what about v6 third they are a little stronger.

I agree with Blake, you should be fine with your rear end for what you are using it for. If you're using it in the sand, your tires are going to spin before you snap an axle. If you were using it on the rocks, well, that would be a different story.

I had a 383 stroker motor in a jeep with a stock AMC 20. IMO, the AMC 20 is a lot weaker than the yota axles. It had 36" super swampers and I bogged with it for a season before selling it. It's all in how you apply the torque of that 400.

Your rear axle should be fine in my opinion.
