pretty noob question as to a knocking motor
Alright so I have a 87toyota 4runned with a 22re in it the motor has a brand new head on it ad my buddy had the motor before me and he blew a hg and had to replace the head. So my question lies here I wheeled the hell outa the vehicle and it loved every second of it till 1 day I got stuck in some clay mud with some tires that had like 15% tread. while in the mist of attempting to wheel outa it I was in 4 low reving up the motor the motor started with a ticking sound so I stopped right there and lisened. It sounded just like the same dam tick these motors get from the lifters and the motor had this tick when I first put it in my truck. So I got about still attempting to get myself out so that way my buddy with his jeep wouldn't have to pull me out and it started getting louder but I did get myself unstuck well I know its a 22re and I have no means of towing it so I drove it the mile and half home and the knock got louder and I was loosing power when I got home I turned it off. When I got home I waited for it to cool and then drained the oil. It was Prolly a qt low but there was no shavings in the oil not gold or anything. So I pull the valve cover everything looks good in there except my liftered being a tad loose but not much. I have yet to pull the oil pan cause its a pina with this ifs. Is it most likely I spun a rod bearing even tho my oil had no shavings or gold look to it? Could it be something else like the flywheel or the lifters being loose?

Went from the tick of the normal 22re to a very loud knock and loss of power. I guess the better way to ask the question is to ask is there always metal shavings or gold brass in the oil when you spin the 22re bearing.
