dual cases: Paper or Silicone?

Ok-getting ready (finally) to put my transmission and dual cases back in the truck. When first assembled my dual cases seem to seap oil between the adapter and 1st TC. Used silicone (maybe not enough)
I have some paper gaskets.

what do you guys recommend? More RTV silicone or use the paper gaskets?

you could always tell the do it yourselfers from shops by the amount of rtv that was used for gaskets. You dont need a "ton" of it. Just enough to seal the surfaces and make sure you allow PROPER CURE TIME! Also use some brake clean to clean the surfaces so you have a good bond to the surface.

x2 on the cleaning.

There should be enough to see A LITTLE seeping out the side as you draw up the bolts - which you definitely need to do in a cross pattern!

Whenever I build cases for guys, which seams to be a lot, this is what I do.

Clean both surfaces with brake cleaner or a good degreaser. Then, I use both paper and RTV. Take the RTV and rub some between your fingers, then apply it to both sides of the paper gasket to make it tacky. A thin, fine filmy with good coverage is what you want on both sides. Apply it to the whole gasket front and back. I have yet to have a case leak on me after using this method.
