HELLLLOOOOOOOOO!

So this will be my first post on Yotatech as I have just purchased my first Yota! As of yesterday, my daily,
crosscountry, work and everything else driver is a 5 speed '91 toyota pickup (22re). My last vehicle
(1988 4sp VW Vanagon) was dilapidated, not well maintained and caused headache after headache. Now that
I have this pristine pickup at only 60k miles I am determined to maintain and repair as necessary.

I've done some searching and have found mixed reviews about the quality of service manuals. So I
thought it may be helpful (especially for newbies like myself) to open a thread to discuss the best service manuals.

Obviously, it seems that the Factory Service Manuals (FSM) will be the most specific, and probably the most helpful,
to each specific vehicle. However, my last day of searching for it has lead me to believe that these are not only
expensive but very difficult to find. I've also been reading many posts about the Haynes Manuals but seem to be
hearing mixed reviews.

I've seen many links for supposed free online PDF file and other downloadable manuals posted on various threads,
but none seem to still be functioning.

Does anyone have an updated version of a downloadable manual?

Are there any other manuals aside from the two stated above that are worth mentioning for a DIY car guy?

Does the Haynes Manual do the job?

Is the FSM worth the dough?

Heres the link to the 93 Toyota FSMhttp://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-buchanan/93fsm/. I would download it and save or print some out (its really long). Other than that, a simple Haynes manual does a decent job for covering the basics and YotaTech is a great resource as well. Lastly, 4crawler.com has some great info

You should at least try and get a copy of the EWD`s(Electrical wiring Diagrams) for your year truck.

It seems no matter what manual you get there is always something you can`t figure out.

Yes I think the Hard copies of the Factory service Manuals are very worth it if your getting into hardcore wrenching.

Changing the oil greasing not so much.

yotatech. Just did my timing chain, guides, tensioner, cover, water pump, oil pump all from searching forums on this site. I did reference the FSM for torque specs though.

Thanks for the replies guys. Just ordered a Haynes Manual that should be in tomorrow.
And thanks a lot highonpottery for online version, the link actually worked!

Anything electrical has always scared me away and I never have learned to read a wiring diagram... Though I just stumbled across a multimeter for ten bucks at a pawn shop so I guess that's my cue to start doing some research.

I went with the haynes. Pretty sure its like most of the repair manuals but its pretty detailed

I have a 93 Toyota 4runner with a 22re engine the engine is shot out. My question is, which would be the best route to go. A rebuild on the engine or a brand new engine.

The best way to go would be to see if there is a recent thread with this topic. It gets covered all the time. And if not and you have searched with the site and google then start a new thread. Try not the hijack someone else's thread. Besides this a best repair manual thread. Most all questions on how to use the site can be answered by watching the newbie video. It's kinda funny also.

You will get tons of results from people that had to make the same choice as you. Good luck hope this help
