What else happened. How were the coolant temps? Any coolant in the radiator? Any oil ion the block? Any oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil? Pull the valve cover and take a peek at the timing chain.

There is both oil and coolant in the truck. there seems to b some oil in the coolant tho... i have pulled the valve cover and the timing chain seems to b a little loose but as i said im not to sure how it is supposed to be never really worked on a motor i got the truck last year and drove it for work and have just started to get into addin somethings and just happened. The truck will still start but doesnt stay running unless u give it gas...

what sort of noise was it making? I'm almost thinking something to do with the timing chain gave way and it skipped a tooth.

But its just a shot in the dark at this point.

its seems to be a hard tick as if something is hitting against something everytime the motor rotates

I am no specialist here, but it sounds to me like your timing chain & cam are out of their proper valve timing setting. I recently found out mine was two teeth out causing the motor to run lean among causing a few other problems. If you do not feel confortable working on it yourself, have a mechanic buddy take a look. If you've got a haynes manual it will be able to tell you the proper timing setting with the alignment of the puch marks on the gear. For all you know it could be that the plastic nylon chain guides have worn out causing a slack in tension and it to skip a few teeth. You mentioned a noise sounding like something hiting something else; Be careful and check under your head to see if your valves are in one piece and there is no damage to them or the pistons. Good Luck!

definitely sounds like a timing chain problem. Inspect it or get it looked at.

I had friend of mine stop over who is pretty good with motors never worked a toyota but has rebuilt and swap out many others b4 we took the valve cover off and got a good look at the timing chain and as even tho he said it seems a bit loose he wasnt sure that was it so and had me start so he could hear the noise and i prob. didnt describe that well its a hard knock that is loud and from hearing it he is thinking something in the bottom end maybe a connecting rod
