Post Rough Country 3" lift on 2007 Tacoma-review

Yesterday I put a Rough Country 3" lift on my dad's 2007 Tacoma. I don't know what the exact tire size he put on afterwards but it was the equivalent to a 33'' tire, they are Pathfinder AT's the picture is kinda bad but it looks real good when you're actually looking at it. As for the lift kit it was a 2 inch block in the rear and a 3'' spacer in the front. The kit was somewhat difficult to put on because the rear blocks spread the U bolts out a little bit making it hard to get throught the plate thing they bolt through. And I think they gave me the wrong shocks or something because I had to bend the shock mount by hitting it with a hammer and spread it out because the bushing was too wide and even with spreading the mount I still had to cut some of the bushing off and I had to grind down the metal piece that went through the bushing. No spring compressor was needed as stated in the instructions but the install instructions left out quite a few steps. And the kit does not include brake line extension brackets. Overall I would give the kit an 8 out of 10 on quality and a 6 out of 10 on an ease of installation scale due to the front springs being difficult to reinsatll after putting the spacers on and the rear blocks making it interesting to get the U bolts back on. Then again I did this all by myself so it would be made easier with two or more guys helping.

Here is a link to the kit: http://roughcountry.com/toyota_4wd_tacoma_3.html
The kit I used had different spacers for the coils in the front though they were round aluminum spacers.

On to the picture:

And yes that is a '85 CJ-7 in the background and thats his main wheeler but he takes his Tacoma on light trails and DD's it.

Suprisingly not bad at all! In fact that is one of the first things I mentioned to my dad

Thats a nice lookin truck. Did you find the rear to be stiffer with the new shocks? Hows the height difference from the back compared to the front?

The truck sits level and rides very nice! It is a little stiffer but drives very smooth still.

And just for the heck of it here's a picture of it out wheelin:

That looks sick! I have been looking at a lift for my '08 I think im going to go with bigger coils instead of a spacer and add-a-leafs in place of blocks.

Yeah I'm 2-3.5 hours away from some of the most pretty and well known trails in the Sierra Nevada Mountains including the Rubicon and Fordyce as the more difficult trails. The trails that we took my dad's Taco on were easy but the scenery is amazing!

Here's a link to my truck on the same trail with the Buttes at the end...

That's awesome! I'll have to make a trip up there sometime; as soon as the snow comes. There aren't too many trails like that around here.
